Weekly review

Hi there!

Today I've chosen to combine my weekly review and my daily face/makeup routine.

Daily routine

As I age I'm finding that I need to use more products to get the job done from cleaning my make up to choosing a good foundation. I have tried Estee lauder products before and have found that they broke me out terribly, but that was before I had my son. Now through trial and error I've found a good combination of Estee Lauder products that I don't absolutely love but it does the trick. I am however still on the hunt for the perfect cleansing line that will clear up my face and won't break me out.

On the other hand I LOVE Estee Lauder makeup. I have a sample palettle that came with a purchase my aunty made not long ago that has the most beautiful mix of eye shadows and blush.

Apologies for the lighting it doesn't give it justice. The colours are so rich and intense, once i run out I'll definately will be purchasing them again. There colours are starting from the top left:

10-Ivory Slipper (Satin), 47-Nude Fresco (Satin)
44- Safari Green (broken) (Shimmer), 35- Hot Cinnamon (Shimmer)
11- Nude Rose (Estee Lauder Signature blush)
60- Sugar Biscuit (Satin), 04- Wild Sable (Matte)
38- Chocolate Bliss (Matte), 45- Lavish Mink

These shadows are 'Pure color' eye-shadows.
Since these colours are so neutral you can create day and night looks with them by keeping it soft and light during the day using the top two colours on the right, then transform the look to a sexy smoky eye by adding the bottom two on the right on your outer 'V'.

As for foundation, in the summer months I don't usually like to use liquid foundations as it can melt off my face even though I use a setting spray.

I use MAC studio fix poweder foundation in NC30. It gives good coverage and i am able to re-apply it throughout the day if I feel I need it.

Mascara is the Estee Lauder Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting mascara. I think its quite good. My lashes are separated and look a lot longer.

I am not a great user of lipstick even in the winter time, I tend to drift towards lip stains throughout the year. My summer favourite is Lancome Juicy Tubes which provide plenty shine and a hint of colour to the lips.

There are only a few of these items i'd repurchase such as the Estee Lauder Perfectly clean cleanser, Mascara and the eye-shadows. Other than than I will try other face products to find the perfect match for me.

Hope this post of helpful! Have a great day!

Uh oh! We're in trouble!

Day 5 ahhhh:

Why hello there!

Today was officially cheat day! Sadly the day didn't last long enough. But surprisingly I didn't go as overboard as I thought I would.

My day started off with a deadly Banoffee pie that I made last night. Which meant that I was too full to eat a 'real' breakfast.

Lunch came along and I knew I needed to get more carbs in me.
Le wrap was something my husband was craving for so off we went to our local Le wrap. I ordered a chicken and avocado wrap and oh my...oh my...Eating a tortilla has never been so good! The oozy cheese and ceasar sauce was absolutely divine.

The day went on and I devoured a big packet of Twisties, Bueno, half a packet of kitkat, some Lindt chocolate, fries and my favourite McDonald's coffee frappe. There wasn't much leftover from our stash of goodies.

My day has now ended with another Banoffee pie and a cup of herbal tea to ummm....ehm ehm...assist in getting rid of said cheating treats. The tea that I drink is called Nutri-slim tea

I have used this tea before when I first started losing weight and it helped a great deal. The effects of it is not instantaneous. However the next morning you'll reap the benefits hehehe.

So here ends my day with a cup of helpful herbs and good ol' Lord of the rings!

Good night everyone!

Odd summer

Hello all!

I've decided to do at least 1-2 fashion post a week 1-2 beauty posts along with my usual reviews of the week and recipe of the week, this way there's a bit of everything and no one gets bored!

This is something I'm wearing today. Jeans with a long top for coverage.
Here in Australia our summers' don't always always stay warm. For example the weather outside is dark and cloudy, although it's not cold enough to wear a jacket, this cute top from Tory Burch does the trick!

I've paired this out fit with some black studded flats and a girl can never have too much bling even on casual days!

Preparing to cheat...

Hello all and welcome to day 4 of The 4 hour body diet. I have noticed some changes in my body, more specifically my skin. Since last night I found my lips had become really dry and no matter how much lip balm I'd apply it wouldn't go away.

As required in the diet, lots of water needs to be drank to aid in weight loss. I drink approx. 2.5 litres everyday and still managed to get dry lips. Hmmmm, not happy Jan!

Anywho lets get stuck into today's menu.

Breakfast:

I wasn't feeling very hungry this morning so I thought a protein shake would do for today.
One scoop in 300 mL of water.

Lunch:

Today's lunch consisted of lean beef mince and egg. Very easy and simple.

Fry half a kilo of lean beef mince until cooked. Add however many eggs you feel like, in my case I put in 3. Add salt and pepper. Cook until eggs are done. Ta-Dah! Very quick, easy, tasty and simple!

Dinner:

Today I decided not to have any dinner as I wasn't very hungry. I've also been dwelling on the fact that tomorrow is cheat day and I can't wait to dig into something very naughty for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Which brings me to what I've done to prepare for our cheat day.

Yep! I've bought a whole heap of rubbish and I'm loving myself!
My husband has also requested that I make Banoffee pie which i'll do after I publish this post.
My only worry is that I put on so much weight on tomorrow it would have all gone for nothing, even though Tim Ferris says its fine, but i'm a tad skeptical. We'll just have to weight (excuse the pun) and see ;-p.

Until tomorrow my lovlies!

Summer days

Hi all!

I thought I might post about something different today. I will however be posting day 4 of my diet, but that will be at the end of today.

Here I have put together some items that remind me of summer. I have items very similar to these in my wardrobe and at this time of the year I find that I tend to dress up a little more!

Enjoys!

Must not cheat!

Day 3:

Today wasn't so bad. However there were a lot more temptations though. As my son is only 19 months old there are a few things I still feed him i.e soup and some rice dishes. So today with all the yummy "normal food" he was eating I was tempted to have a little nibble. But non the less I held my ground and controlled my urge to feast on bread and rice. So here we go with today's menu!

Breakfast:

Yep! More eggs! I used a quarter of a carton of egg whites (new to Woolworths) and two whole eggs. Today I used half a tin of soy beans which weren't too bad since they were mixed in with some mild salsa. Not sure how long I can last with Mexican flavours for breakky.

Lunch:

Today lunch was simple and legume free (thank goodness). After breakfast I knew that there was no way I was going to be having any legume for lunch or dinner.

Here I have pan fired some diced lamb with the usual base of onion and garlic then I threw in some frozen green beans. The flavour of the lamb pairs nicely with green beans which I love.

Dinner:

I can't tell you enough how I love Asian flavours. Being half Filipino it's only natural that I love the taste of Asian cuisine. For dinner I pan fried half a chicken breast and added half a bag of frozen Thai style veggies. The veggie mix consists of more green beans, capsicum (red peppers), bamboo shoots (YUM), carrots and baby corn. I also added in some oyster sauce for flavour and a little drizzle of sesame oil which really pulls the dish together.

Weight-loss update to me surprise I weighed myself this morning and I am 1 kg lighter than Monday! I am very happy that only 3 days in I've lost a kg. However I realise that after my cheat day which will be Friday I'll probably put the kg and some back on, but as stated in 'The 4 hour Body', it's normal and I should look forward to losing it with in 24-48 hrs.

Stayed tuned for day 4 where I prepare for the great feast on Friday!

Toodles!

Protein overload

Day 2:

Today I woke up with excitement of having my hubby home so we could have meal times together (my favourite days of the week). I had scheduled a protein fueled day that would not only taste amazing but keep us full in between meals.

Breakfast:

  • 3 egg whites and 2 whole eggs
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1/2 a jar of enchiladas sauce.
(sorry I forgot to take a picture)

Lunch:

Oven baked Salmon with Tuscan herbs. This was delightful, it was a nice change from the usual meat and chicken. I must admit I did over cook it (I really don't like raw fish).

Don't forget your over-sized salad!

Dinner:

Beef patties! These were so juicy and flavourful I could eat these for weeks!

I find it a little hard to eat dinner as I'm quite full from lunch 98% of the time even without being on a diet. But the more protein you eat, the more weight you're meant to lose!

I hope this was insightful. I'll be back tomorrow with day 3 of the 'The 4 hour body'.
